ABSTRACT

Fabian came to me with his mother after missing three months of school; in fact he had not attended since the Carnival holidays. He developed attacks of dizziness in the mornings and collapsed as soon as he tried to leave for school. During the holidays he had no problems. He was described as totally changed: withdrawn, in no mood to do anything, showing very little initiative. Previously he had been lively and outgoing, got involved in everything, and seemed to have no problems. The family couldn’t understand the change at all.
