ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses three kinds of people: "imaginary healthy", the hypersensitive, nervous authors, and the-mostly-skilful, doctors. In many ways author contributed himself to this closeness to his parents, his health and his intimate life. There is the medical side stressing health, with the two doctors, masculine, socially and erotically active and successful. On the one side there are the rational, pragmatic doctors with their sights set on what promotes health and the social good. Of particular interest are the differences of opinion concerning concepts of the ideal between the two factions of the family. On the one side there are the rational, pragmatic doctors with their sights set on what promotes health and the social good. Just as forgetting is a prerequisite for successful recollection so variations and changes are the starting points for the experience of the essential return; for Proust the manifestation of Beauty of others.
