ABSTRACT

Working in the Bangladeshi/Asian service at the Tavistock Clinic has raised a number of challenges. One of these has been to explore the possibilities of working within cultures and across cultures. Another has been how to juxtapose multiple systems, such as the clinic and the community, and how to address the dilemma of concentrating on clinic-based work versus community work. The biggest challenge has been to search for a good fit between theory, practice, and the context in which clinical work can best flourish.
