ABSTRACT
Object relations theory was a subject with which Foulkes had decided to deal, spelling out why he felt it insufficient as a basis for group analysis. He re-read Fairbairn and other authors, but he died before having done more than dictating some preliminary thoughts. The following notes are an edited version, extracted from Interim formulations’ dictated in his last year of life in preparation for his theory book, but never revised.
