ABSTRACT

Many therapists might not know where to start in introducing the idea of vibrators or other aids to their clients, or what is suitable. This chapter explores how they can be used imaginatively to enhance the sexual experience. It examines how resources can be used effectively by therapists for sexual difficulties, through a case example. Since 1998, with the advent of Viagra for erectile dysfunction (ED), several clinicians and therapists have explored the use of sex aids for particular sexual dysfunctions in men and women. Experimentation with sex aids has the potential to greatly enhance the client’s sexual experience, although some therapists and clinicians lack the confidence to broach the topic. Vacuum therapy is the longest established method of treating ED. The Eros Therapy Device is a specially designed clitoral pump that creates a vacuum within a soft silicone cup placed over the clitoris to draw blood into the area.
