ABSTRACT

My experience with children and teenagers with gender identity disorders comes from my work in a Mental Health Service for Children and Teenagers with every kind of psychopathology (Centres de Salut Mental Infantil i Juvenil [de la Fundació Eulàlia Torras de Beà], Barcelona). So, although we are referred children with atypical gender identity, our experience is limited and, for us, working with these children is not easy. I imagine that it is never easy. I do not know whether different working contexts can also create different professional perspectives and attitudes towards the problem.
