The purpose of administrative leadership couple constellation was to ensure professional management of the two main functions of a psychiatric institution. They are: to perform medical/psychiatric investigations and diagnostic procedures followed by prescription of different kinds of treatment to patients, and to undertake the daily, twenty-four-hour, inpatient-milieu treatment, planning, and care. In this chapter, the authors discuss the traumatic outcomes of the efforts to guide a large psychiatric hospital out of the period of stagnation of the 1980s and the 1990s. They describe the phases in the rise and fall of the leadership that is specifically the ability of the leadership to formulate and implement its visions or ideas. The leadership not only tried to promote integrated treatment models, it also brought new ideas of leadership into the organization. The leadership couple is a very important part of the contextual institution, and, as such, is consciously and unconsciously influenced by group processes at any given time.
