ABSTRACT

This paper aims to show the complex nature of a specific social system: the Company People Organization. This will be achieved identifying the Theoretical Incompleteness (Minati 2016) of such system as a concise and all-inclusive feature of complexity. Successively, thanks to the Social System Theory from Niklas Luhmann (1986, 1995, 1997), which is grounded on autopoietic system theory (Maturana and Varela 1980, 1992), it will be showed that the autopoiesis nature of this peculiar social system matches the Theoretical Incompleteness. That is to say that autopoiesis, in case of Company Organization, and generally for any social system, is the feature that fully, and deeply, describes its complexity. Thanks to this result it will be easier and more handy to discuss the related governance issue. Unfortunately due to the “self-development” root of autopoietic systems, any approach based on causality governance is bound to fail.
