ABSTRACT
Transition in Indian history has generally been understood with the help of literary evidence other than numismatic. The present chapter intends to understand transition in Indian history with the help of numismatics evidence which provides not only relevant information but also finds continuity in its information. It examines the transitions in Indian coinage from the ancient to the medieval period with emphasis on medieval Indian coinage, primarily covering religious and cultural transition.
