ABSTRACT

This chapter is a reflective prologue written in response to Eunice Ferreira’s case study on the chapter author Caridad Svich’s play The Orphan Sea and its production at Skidmore College. The prologue opens up the reader’s field of enquiry toward a non-hierarchical way of reading and thinking about the space, place and socio-political position of performance. Written as a long-form poem, “The Sea Will Listen” invites the reader to think about globalization, migration, and hybridity.
