ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we analyze and theorize fifteen high school students’ maker processes through posthumanist theories. The research team explored collaborations between a media artist and a high school English teacher with the aim of offering students a unit of study in which they could express their perspectives on such issues as homelessness, anxiety, depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In our engagement with posthumanist theory, we draw on work by Kuby (Kuby & Gutshall Rucker, 2016) and Deleuze and Guattari (1980) to capture how students think about and experiment with moving image techniques and technologies to create film narratives.
