ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates a positive image before the voters and thereby minimizing the potential nitpicking that the public might do. Voters are suspicious of candidates who appear to be manipulating an outcome in too many arenas. The candidate must adopt the kind of manners a mother would be proud of. Candidate races that fall under law enforcement or judicial posts have specific areas of caution. A groomer must be willing to attend early debates and public gatherings to observe the candidate's behavior. A message is an organizational tool for the candidate to stay focused on an issue that is important to the voting population. As in all campaign activities, a third-party candidate can be a blessing or a curse. A campaign manager should know something about the system: how land-use laws work, how property and other taxes are distributed, the revenue stream, the expenditure stream, and which follows which.
