ABSTRACT

The "baby boomers", as they are popularly called, have been held responsible for everything from the rise and fall of the baby food industry a massive expansion in education facilities, the rise of certain forms of popular music and now, as they enter middle age, the growing conservatism of the societies they have come to dominate. The issues addressed in our analysis are: How do baby boomers compare with others in retention of identification, rates of participation, religious beliefs and the relationship between levels of belief and practice and other attitudes. They have been raised in the shadow of the boomers. They have received the cultural and social "hand-me-downs" of the boomers. Since the baby boomers have affected every other aspect of society, it is also likely that they have had an impact on religion. The baby boomers have had an effect on the religious life of Australia.
