ABSTRACT

The trial balloon with Marv Albert’s toupee on top has long since returned to ground. The broadcaster politely declined even discussing an offered radio job until after his sentencing this week and then presumably more time for jail or psychological counseling. But the brief flurry 10 days ago accomplished the mission of preparing us for his return. Most people polled seemed to think that after a decent interval (after the bite marks fade?), Albert should resume what has been a notable career. Sports, after all, is about second chances, coming back from all the bad bounces of life, from knee injuries to rape convictions.
