ABSTRACT
One innovative woman had her donor ejaculate into a condom, then she simply turned the condom inside-out in her vagina. Some women either insert a diaphragm or cervical cap to hold the semen near the cervix or they lie down for a half-hour or so after inserting the semen. One thing the feminist health services have in common with one another is their attempt to demedicalize the procedure of donor insemination. A woman deciding to have children on her own terms and without the inclusion of an on-site father is seen as attacking the traditional notion of a proper family. Our children are not subjects in a social experiment but human beings with feelings whom we deeply love. There needs to be continuous support for mothers and for the rights of non-biological mothers who are part of the children’s lives.
