ABSTRACT

What did I learn about feminist bioethics while participating in the production of this anthology? As one of the team members who brought forth this project, I discovered the many challenges that feminist bioethicists face when confronted with the task of assimilating diverse, and oftentimes conflicting, crosscultural perspectives. Primarily, I found the overriding challenge to be the reconciliation between global feminist diversity and feminist political solidarity. Can feminists from different cultural backgrounds unite in political solidarity without any one of them needing to forsake her unique "voice"? Can we "globalize" feminist bioethics without a dominant culture coming forward to assume the role of ultimate moral arbiter?
