ABSTRACT

In general, the economic behavior of a people is governed by their ethical standards and their norms of conduct at work and in society. Finally, strong morality derives from personal faith, from intimate relations with one's Creator and Saviour. The intense struggle of the Soviet power against religion resulted in a rejection of Christian teaching, morals, and ethics on the part of many millions of the population in Russia. Sects in Russia have been oriented toward materializing their teachings-their views on land, property, church, power, relations at work, in society, and the family. In Russia, sectarian movements often were based on the precept that "man is the house of God". For decades, the economic activity of the population was enforced by the fear of physical and later economic punishment. To the present, the whole of production remains beyond any sphere of moral incentives both for the workers and managers, devoid of ethical principles.
