ABSTRACT

Reactions to the discussion of female politics reflect the ratio of political power in Slovenia, which, following the 1990 elections, defines the borders among the important, less important, and unimportant as far as the responsibilities of the state to individuals (male and female) and vice versa are concerned. Discussions on politics aimed at doing away with the subordination of conditions linked to gender mainly come up against belittlement and laughter in government institutions. Even rare expressions of sympathy are usually given in relation to proposals presumed to have no hope of success.
