ABSTRACT

The experience has been that if the organizational difficulties can be solved, then the problems created are fewer than the problems removed. Both school and central, were most supportive and whilst recognizing the possibility of an increase in meals required, saw no difficulty in coping. The school building is twenty-five years old, brick built and with no social areas. Break-times during bad weather are, therefore, particularly unpleasant, tiring and difficult. The afternoon session was preferable for the school as pupils could have an early lunch and, to allow for travelling time, could continue beyond 3.10 p.m. Morning sessions would not be quite so easy as pupils would have difficulty in travelling from the College and also eating their lunch in time for the beginning of the afternoon session. The school has a small catchment area and pupils do not make great use of buses, certainly not enough use for any special arrangements to have to be made.
