ABSTRACT
This chapter examines early sound cinema production in Latin American nations such as Chile, Uruguay, Cuba, and Colombia, where ‘early’ sound production actually occurred quite late (past 1927–30), and explores how being ‘late’ to sound film production impacted the future potential of these national cinemas.
