ABSTRACT

This final chapter brings together the key topics and issues set out in the preceding chapters in order to illuminate new understandings of (Australian) ULTRs’ professional identities and positionings. We also explore the opportunities ULTRs in different contexts can embrace as language and culture educators, as ‘go-between’ not only worldviews (Kramsch, 2004), but also go-between political and ethical orientations, supporting learners to become critical thinkers and engaged citizens, capable of informed choices regarding the kind of future world they want to live in. Finally, this chapter also discusses areas where further research may be conducted in order to delineate a course of action for the otherwise-imagined futures in language and culture education.
