ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates the causes that led to the collapse of the Congress party in the 2014 and what this collapse holds for its future and possibilities of its revival. Viewing the 2014 election as a tectonic shift in ideological terms, the chapter explains how this unprecedented rise of the Hindu Rightwing party, the Bhartiya Janata Party, could have severe adverse implications for inclusive development. The Congress party, the chapter suggests, need to rejuvenate under a dynamic leadership.
