ABSTRACT

The chapter examines how Muslim voters behaved in 2014 election, since they have long perceived the BJP as an anti-Muslim party, and their possible relationship with Indian state in the context of the BJP as a ruling party. The post-2014 political moment in Indian democracy, the chapter suggests, has become a moment of intense anxieties, deep concerns, and troubling dilemmas for Indian Muslims, comparable to the post-1857 Sepoy mutiny political moment during the British Indian history. While there is attempt by the BJP to reach out to Muslim, the response is going to be rather adversarial.
