88 89When I was a junior in high school, I remember walking up to my chemistry teacher and asking her about a summer research program that she announced at the end of class. Her face showed a bit of shock as she fixed her mouth to answer my questions. She told me that it was only for “A” students, but I reminded her that I indeed had an “A.” She proceeded to tell me that the program was competitive. I simply told her that I understood, but I still wanted an application.
