ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the implications of the 2014 Mars Orbiter Mission when the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) placed a satellite on orbit around Mars at the very first attempt. Examining the roles of the eight women scientists and engineers who contributed substantially to this mission, and in its manifest success, I ask how their participation will change the shape of the Indian scientific community, and what will be the overall implications of this success from a feminist point of view.
