ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the critical process drama framework. This framework evolved from research exploring the potential for process drama as an enactment of critical pedagogy through a cumulative case study approach. Dialectical approaches to education, both critical pedagogy and process drama, value active participation and authentic collaboration. The framework is designed to stimulate the design and enactment of an ongoing process drama. The framework consists of six interrelated concepts which animate the central pretext of the drama. These concepts are agency, aesthetic, agitation, ambiguity, action, and hope – AAAAAH. This framework is designed to be continual and reflexive and support drama practitioners keen to engage in authentically critical work.
