ABSTRACT

One way of focusing attention on different aspects of writing is to look at writing as a process. One way of dividing up the writing process contains the following seven subprocesses: considering the goals of the writer, having a model of the reader, gathering ideas, organising ideas, turning ideas into written text, reviewing what has been written, and editing. Chapter 8 looks at each of these parts of the process and shows how they can be practised and strengthened. Each part of the process is related to specific learning activities. The parts of the writing process can also be used to diagnose learners’ difficulties in writing and to assess writing.
