ABSTRACT

Digital technology involves the use of mobile devices, computers, and the internet. It has affected all parts of the writing process and has resulted in a reconsideration of the various parts and how they are implemented. Chapter 9 begins by looking at multimodal composing using digital storytelling. Digital technology has changed the nature of writing in four major ways. First, it has resulted in new kinds of writing that should be part of a writing course. Second, digital technology has created new sources of information and has changed how we gather ideas and information. Third, digital technology has changed the nature of writing in the way that we do writing. Fourth, digital technology has changed how we can get feedback on our writing and how our language use is supported while writing. Chapter 9 uses the parts of the writing process to look at these changes and how they affect teaching and learning to write in another language. The chapter ends by looking at the ethical issues affected by digital technology such as plagiarism, copyright, abuse and bullying, and accessibility.
