ABSTRACT
The sketches included in this collection are of libraries selected by perusal of longer lists of major collections contained in two sources—Subject Collections, 5th edition, edited by Lee Ash (1978), and Directory of Special Libraries and Information Centers, edited by Margaret L. Young (1977). The libraries surveyed were chosen to represent only 2 geographic and type-of-library range and demonstrate a variety of character and origins.
