Introduction

This editorial introduction builds a framework for conceptualising the possible resonances and dissonances between the postcolonial and the postsocialist in feminist theorising and practice. We contextualise these debates through exploring historical genealogies and their contemporary neoliberal entanglements. Putting under pressure what postcolonialism and postsocialism mean for feminist scholarship and activism, we reflect on how the contributors to the volume rethink established terms and develop new ways of thinking about gender, sexuality, race, migration, diasporas, indigeneity, and disability. To facilitate the dialogues between the various scholars, activists and artists who have contributed to this volume, we create links between them through three conceptual lenses: intersections, opacities and challenges.
