ABSTRACT

Protocussion, a small and growing drum company in Upstate New York near Woodstock, has developed a new and exciting technique in the art of drum making. The drums that take the name of the man who created them, “Lovelett,” were patented in 1991 and feature many of the unique and innovative ideas that have come to represent Protocussion. Sound rings that protrude from the Lovelett Drum are the first noticeable feature. Multi-annular ring construction is another patented feature which gives the Lovelett Drum its unique appearance as well as its strength, making it the strongest wood drum shell made. Protocussion’s combination of revolutionary sound rings, variable bearing edges, durable multi-annular construction, and a selection of beautiful finishes all illustrate Protocussion’s commitment to new and unique methods in crafting not only the Lovelett Drum but also an entire generation of percussion instruments.
