ABSTRACT

This chapter shares the narratives of the four CUNY-NYSIEB (City University of New York-New York State Initiative on Emergent Bilinguals) project directors as they led the project over eight years. Each story shares how they worked collaboratively with the rest of the CUNY-NYSIEB team to improve the education of emergent bilinguals. As the four project directors reflect on their practices, they describe how they build on each other's work and how the project grew in partnership with educators in a variety of school settings. As a result of these multilayer collaborations, CUNY-NYSIEB's theory and practices around translanguaging grew and evolved, while the core values remained the same.
