ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on academic journal research publications covering environmental sustainability and sport facilities. It is noted that sport facility managers have the discretion to lead environmental advances for the benefit of sport and society. In this context, the chapter examines 16 key manuscripts within significant themes. Interestingly, there were two manuscripts on the future of sport facility environmental sustainability. Overall, the research gaps were abundant and research topics were outlined to aid readers interested in filling the gaps to generate a robust body of literature on this important topic. Much work remains to be completed – including understandings on best practices of sport facility managers as societal leaders in environmental sustainability.
