ABSTRACT

Opened in 2011, in a new futuristic landmark building, Museum of Liverpool traces the social, economic and political history of Liverpool and how its creative, industrial, maritime, musical and sporting life have shaped the city. The museum commands striking views over the docks, the old city centre and the Mersey estuary, and, with compelling and innovative exhibits, seeks to motivate its visitors in an emotional, interactive and playful way. Placed at the heart of a multi-ethnic city that has become a crossroads of diverse populations and languages, Museum of Liverpool assumes a symbolic value in the delicate process of community integration.
