ABSTRACT

This museum displays a large part of the hull of a warship, which foundered in the Solent in 1545 with great loss of life. The wreck was discovered in 1971 and ten years of underwater excavation followed. The starboard side of the hull was raised and conserved on land. A new building now displays this part of the ship and the associated artefacts. Scientific analysis of the finds enables the museum to update their interpretation often made public through television programmes, conventional publications and through the interaction of the visitor with guides.
