ABSTRACT

As its founder, Knut W. Jensen wrote in 1984 ‘the original aim of the Museum was to show the interplay between art, architecture, and landscape, and by so doing create a specifically Danish milieu, a refuge for those with a commitment to contemporary art.’ The quality of the collection and the attentive design of the architecture during the years has grown, but always with a perfect balance with the local landscape facing the sea in Humlebaek, north of Copenhagen. Although a public space, Louisiana maintains the charm of a private sophisticated home where each piece of art is perfectly selected and positioned in a unique environment.
