ABSTRACT

Several things are common to each of the studies which are signal in any discussion of environment attributes. Regarding the use of judgmental behavior, it was felt that although such experiments serve pedagogy they have severe limitations and low productivity when applied to specific design problems. Relating the one kind of behavior which is judgmental to other kinds of behavior vis a vis real environments was lacking and sorely needed to evaluate the suigeneris nature of the experiments. Although some sophisticated multivariate methods of analysis were employed, there were still nits to be picked as well as telling substantive criticism. The limitation to visual attributes by the use of photographs was discussed and rejected as unnecessary, although the pragmatic defense was reasonable.
