ABSTRACT
Participatory or Advocacy Planning is a political issue and in some way might not seem to fit into this conference, however the Node-Four group, discussed the use of systems or a systematic approach to participating in planning which I can contrast to my own work. We don’t use a systems model when working with the community, but approach that aspect on an ad hoc basis. We use our systems experience for the problem-solving so these two elements merge. What concerns me is that design methods in the real world can get between the problem and the solution. And somehow I think this is something we have to guard against.
