ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of China’s tourism vocational education. It describes the mission and value of tourism vocational education in China, the classification of tourism vocational education and reviews the three development stages of China’s vocational tourism education in the past four decades. These three stages are the initial stage from 1978 to 1995, the development stage from 1996 to 2005 and the quality consolidation stage from 2006 to the present time. The chapter further identifies the challenges and opportunities for the tourism vocation education in China.
