ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to review the historical development and evolution of doctoral tourism education and examines the areas of PhD programs within various disciplines. Tourism management degrees are then particularly investigated. Doctoral dissertations from the Wanfang database are also analysed to understand the topics and interests of doctoral dissertations in order to grasp the basic situation around doctoral tourism research in China. Issues regarding PhD education are also discussed.
