ABSTRACT
This chapter examines how study abroad experiences, particularly through experiential education (EE) programs, can serve as rich opportunities to develop the critical consciousness required for culturally responsive teaching. Based on a study abroad program in Fiji, this chapter reviews the activities and opportunities for reflection before the EE program, during the EE program, and after the EE program that contribute to the development of critical consciousness as a precursor to culturally responsive teaching.
