ABSTRACT

The introduction of robotics into medicine and health care is one of the most important artificial intelligence (AI) breakthroughs. Military robotics aims at helping soldiers on the battle ground to overcome natural obstacles, difficult tasks, and dangerous missions such as walking around minefield or deactivating explosives. Most companies tend to start with robotic process automation, language processing, computer vision, and conversational interfaces. A study conducted by Davenport and Ronanki in 2018 reveals that out of 152 companies using AI, 71 use the technology for process automation, 57 use it for cognitive insights, and 24 use it for cognitive engagement. The impact of this kind of AI on the business bottom line is tremendous given the cost-saving benefits it provides to companies. Explainers help business leaders make sense of AI behavior and provide an answer to the public. In Europe, the need for “explanation” has become a legal requirement.
