ABSTRACT

The importance of understanding the elements of culture has a great impact on performance. Successful changes are much more likely to occur when leaders take advantage of the culture present rather than seeking to make a change in the culture. Corporate leaders should be clear why they want changes instituted. Change just for change sake is wasted energy. By leveraging both, the change transitions are more easily incorporated into the corporate culture. Leadership must address the beliefs that hold back momentum to change. Any evaluation of performance and cultural change must also include a discussion of service. Definition of performance: the act or process of carrying out or accomplishing an activity, task, or function against preset known standards of accuracy, completeness, cost, and speed. Performance is deemed to be the fulfillment of an obligation. The objectives and goals inputs are the primary performance measure for the organization.
