ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a reflective case study about how the author, an international graduate, has developed his career in Australia. The narrative reveals that employability negotiation is a complex process that is determined by external and internal factors. Determinants that significantly contribute to his employment success are human capital, social capital, and agentic capital. The chapter suggests that students need to have a long-term and step-by-step career. This chapter highlights that although qualifications can assist transition into the labour market, to succeed in the host country’s workforce, international graduates need to strategically build and utilize their social networks and strengths to compete with other graduates.
