ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a comparative analysis of selected governmental electronic services offered through the internet in the chosen EU countries, to study all aspects which might be important for their implementation as trusted Government-to-Citizens (G2C) and Government-to-Business (G2B) e-services; for instance, technology requirements, data and metadata models, years in operation, brief history, etc. In addition, the authors assess the degree to which the e-services accomplished what they had promised. In the context of Government-to-Government (G2G), the chapter also analyzes how the e-services can affect the preservation of authenticity of records and what should be taken into account to establish policies and requirements for trusted e-services between public administrations based on the study done at Girona City Council.
