ABSTRACT

The main objective of this paper is to understand the predicaments of migrants who have moved into urban areas in search of livelihood in India and China. This paper further strives to understand if migrant females are better off than their male counterparts in these countries. Further, it looks into the policies of the governments to accommodate migrants in urban areas. To achieve this purpose, the study relies on secondary sources. Available literature and government reports as well as reports of international bodies on India and China on internal migration are analysed.
