ABSTRACT

India and China are both developing countries with large populations, also facing the problem of economic development and environmental protection. Thus, the two countries should learn from each other, exchange and cooperate with each other with regard to environmental protection. India has a sound legal system of environmental administration and a developed system of environmental public interest litigation, while its regulatory system is far less effective than that of China. The main reasons are both the problems of the regulatory system and the effects of the implementation of the system. Although there are many problems in China’s environmental protection system, high attention and iron-fisted measures of central government have also greatly improved the environment in China. A comparative study of the two countries’ environmental protection systems is conducive to promoting the improvement of the two countries’ environmental protection systems and enhancing cooperation in environmental governance.
