ABSTRACT

Émilie Monnet's (b.1979) Okinum is an interdisciplinary contemporary piece stemming from Indigenous resistance and resurgence frameworks. As an Anishinaabe/French theatre practitioner, Monnet builds bridges between Indigenous and nonindigenous audiences across Canada and globally. The contribution in this anthology explores some of the ways in which love for the land, the animal world and Indigenous language establishes Okinum itself as a work of theory.
