ABSTRACT

This chapter applies the CREATE framework, using a design thinking approach, to a research study focused on the inclusion of children experiencing disability at recess. It highlights our reflections and critique of the research process to identify how connection, reflexivity, empathy, adherence, transparency and empowerment are essential elements to researching alongside children and youth. The chapter further showcases our insights into how to deeply respect, value, and authentically engage children experiencing disability as partners in research.
