ABSTRACT

Putting employees or people first in an organization above all is a basic component of human resource management based on recent trends. Organizations are trying to make employees happy by providing them so much in terms of compensation and benefits in order to retain them. Nowadays, society is already facing talent scarcity in the workplace and in the future, it will be very high; in fact, lack of talented people will be a nightmare for the top management people in the organization. Researchers and practitioners are very interested about the field of HRM in Bangladesh because of the large population and the continuous economic growth in terms of gross domestic product (GDP). However, they have very limited access to the current status of HRM research due to lack of a central database or any digital information warehouse. This study aims to fill the information gap by compiling 37 research studies conducted so far on HRM practices, especially compensation and benefits practices in Bangladesh. This research identifies and shows the research gaps with respect to HRM practices in Bangladesh, mainly compensation and benefits systems. To conclude, this study proposed a few areas of compensation and benefits systems in Bangladesh where future studies can be conducted.
